PROJECT OVERVIEW
Grant Street, Newbridge- Permit approved.
The site was a large intact parcel of remnant vegetation that is endangered in the Bioregion. I proposed development alongside conservation. The vegetation has a high level of strategic importance and is mostly fragmented from other larger portions of vegetation is at risk of losing biodiversity and eventually can risk of senescence if it is not managed in perpetuity. This patch of vegetation is of sufficient size to have some genetic diversity and resilience against climate change along with the other areas surrounding the site some being crown land and others private.
The site is at high risk of compaction and salinsation and due to the cover of high value vegetation on site; it is more appropriate to secure the current carbon levels and assist in stabilisation of ground water by retaining vegetation where possible.
Application was approved.
